Is this Social?

IMG_2732 cropped solar invert cropped

They want your image  they want your soul  as much as you can give  they’ll take it all

They want information   they want consent   monetizing us   down to the last cent

Like we’re just products lined up on a shelf   a piece of meat   cut and paste yourself

Inside out   we’ve been swallowed whole   identities merging   we’re getting sold

Feeding the machines  replacing skin with glass  we’re raising imitations  Is this social?

How many friends   can you pretend to have   and what’s your status   Is this social?

Reject their probing eyes   their sucking needle lies   keep some of it inside

They’re tracking tendencies averaging us out if we could disappear we’d find a way out

Consuming the consumers   the pitchman is fake

he swallows his own tail   he is a walking snake

Eyes stapled to a screen  their minds all gone   do you want that   just another Replicon

Manufacturing a sense of belonging   but we don’t need them to tell us who we are

Champlain Park hockey

The perfect Canadian winter day: -9 and sunny, hockey, beer.  Pick-up hockey with friends at a neighborhood rink in Ottawa.  Skating on the Rideau Canal during Winterlude.  Beer at the WinterBrewed craft beer festival.  We ended up at a pub showing an NHL game and enjoyed pints with a plate of poutine.

Wheel of Fortune

We all ride the wheel of life.  Some of us are at the edge.

Does fortune, misfortune, karma pervade?  Or is it just a physics of spinning balls, frictions, chance forces?

Around and around.

Who set the wheel spinning?

Dagger thrower, water bearer, wagoneer, wizened elder, vigilante, searcher, crime scene investigator.

What we must do,

come what may.

The Quadrogram

We discovered a special place in the Gatineau Hills, at Meech Lake, with good views and good energy.  Almost a sacred spot.  A symbol came to me and named itself ‘quadrogram’.  Nested diamonds, blue white and red.  Weeks later I returned to mark that spot with a glyph of the quadrogram.  Forest graffiti.  Hopefully the tree doesn’t mind.

Up Golden Canyon

They call it Death Valley, but for me the rock is alive. Rock on.

Window of Opportunity

..To see the shape of the land, unobstructed; these are the hills in the long shadow of early november after the leaves have fallen, but before the snow.
